Bola Tinubu Allegedly has Dual Citizenship
As allegations of dual citizenship surface, Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate and president-elect of Nigeria, finds himself at the center of controversey once again.
David Hundeyin, a well-known influencer, posted an image of Mr. Tinubu’s bio page from his passport from Guinea Conakry on his Twitter account.
Due to the fact that a Nigerian cannot hold the post of president if they also hold dual citizenship, Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of the election on February 25, 2023, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This discovery could have a significant impact on his political future.
A normal examination into the financial holdings of Nigerian politicians turned out the Guinea Conakry passport, according to an unnamed source who supplied the passport to The Trent at the beginning of April 2023.
The authenticity of the passport, according to the source, has been confirmed, which raises doubts regarding Tinubu’s eligibility to hold public office in Nigeria since Bola Tinubu Allegedly has Dual Citizenship.

The Trent has contacted Tinubu’s media office for comments, but no one has responded.

Legal authorities offer their opinions on the possible repercussions of the revelation if it turns out to be accurate that Bola Tinubu Allegedly has Dual Citizenship.
According to Chapter 6, Part 1, Section 137 of the 1999 Constitution
A person shall not be qualified for election to the office of the president if -(a) subject to the provisions of section 28 of this Constitution, he has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a country other than Nigeria or, except in such cases as may be prescribed by the National Assembly, he has made a declaration of allegiance to such other country.
“If it is established that Mr. Tinubu indeed holds dual citizenship, he could face disqualification from holding public office, including his aspirations for the presidency,” added prominent criminologist and human rights activist Emeka Umeagbalasi.
This information that Bola Tinubu Allegedly has Dual Citizenship also presents Tinubu with a new legal obstacle. The forms he presented to INEC while under oath demonstrate that he did not declare any foreign citizenship on the form, raising the possibility that he committed purgery.
